IBE has an exceptional team of highly specialized and qualified management trainers with decades of experience in many fields of language and English for Specific Purposes:

 

CAROLE GREEN was born in Durham, England and studied English, French and Education at the University of Sheffield. Following that she studied a further two years at the Centre of Applied Linguistics in Geneva, Switzerland to qualify as a trainer of English for non-native speakers. Her work at the United Nations Office, the World Health Organisation and the International Labour Exchange was the beginning of a long, successful career in language and intercultural communication training.

In Munich Carole worked at the Cambridge Institute preparing students for the Cambridge Proficiency exams and later for CEIBT, Certificate in English for International Business & Trade. Then Carole moved into residential training for top management at the Siemens Bildungszentrum für Oberster Führungskreis Feldafing. This included teaching on special courses in Vienna, Zurich, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and Oxford.

Carole worked for several years on intercultural courses for Siemens, specialising in the British-German interface as well as writing and developing course material for global intercultural awareness. Today, Carole also works in the pharmaceutical/diagnostic industry helping course participants to be more competent at their jobs.

 

HELGA KAMMERL is an English and German language teacher and trainer, whose engaging style is very motivating. She brings principles of both communication and intercultural studies to her language classes and thereby offers her students a lot more than the traditional general approach to English training. Helga has successfully trained both language and management students from many countries, for more than 20 years. She has a masters degree in German as a Foreign Language, Americanistics and Linguistics from the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and holds a certificate for Intercultural Competence Master.

After completing her studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University, Helga worked at the Carl Duisberg Center, the Euro-Language-School, and has taught for more than 15 years at the Munich University. She also carried out a two year educational project for the Bayerische Landesbank involving all levels of management and staff.

Helga presently teaches individual students in the pharmaceutical/diagnostic industry, from DLR (German Space Centre), vhs (Adult Education) at Starnberg, Italian Bank Managers, and South African Technical Department Directors.

COMFORT MICHALIK is an experienced Trainer with a multi-cultural background which includes America, Africa and Europe. Comfort has a BA in Business Administration from the Howard University School of Business, Washington DC. After finishing her studies, she worked for the World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC), in the capital markets’ department and at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the statistics department. Comfort always worked with top management.

Since coming to Europe, Comfort has worked as a language trainer, training Siemens employees at all levels at the Siemens Bildungszentrum, in Munich. At present Comfort is a trainer for IBE, where she brings her intercultural experience and international expertise to her course participants, assisting them in dealing effectively with their business partners around the globe.

 

HELENA POHLMANN was born in Germany of a Greek mother and German father. She migrated to Australia, where she finished her schooling and post-secondary education. Having grown up with German, Greek and English Helena is multi-lingual and completed studies to obtain government accreditation as a translator and interpreter (NAATI - www.naati.com.au).

At the age of 21, having completed her Business Studies, she became the youngest Claims Manager of a subsidiary of one of Australia's largest insurance companies. This is where Helena started her career in Training. Later she studied Medical Sciences at the universities of Pune, Adelaide, Leipzig and Munich. She recently completed her Business Certificate for Teaching English for Business (CertTEB) through the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), with outstanding results.

Helena also has her own companies, English-for-Work and Communicating Internationally and works for the University of Magdeburg and the VHS Breitenberg. Helena has been working for IBE for the last 5 years. Her business and medical background are great assets when it comes to helping you work effectively in your specific field, with your international partners.

 

GILL REICHENBERGER is English, with an honours degree in German and French and a Diploma of Education from Cambridge University. Gill has extensive experience in many fields of language training and has done further training in psychology, rhetoric and mnmo techniques for accelerated learning. Gill taught at the Cambridge Institute for two years, before being appointed director of Munich’s first business English school, Pitmans. Gill at age 25, successfully started this company.

This was followed by a three-year teaching assignment at the Institute of English Philology, Munich University (LMU), during which time she also served on the examining board of the Dolmetscher Institute. After leaving the academic field Gill renewed her contacts in industry, working as a freelance trainer/consultant for the HypoVereinsbank, IBM, Hertie, Hettlage and the Siemens Bildungszentrum, where she was a trainer for upper management.

Today Gill trains staff at Siemens Head Office, as well as for IBE. Her intercultural experience and flexible approach to language learning, together with her knowledge of the pharmaceutical/diagnostic industry, are of great benefit to her course participants, enabling them to acquire the skills they need to handle their daily work effectively and communicate confidently with their international business partners.

 

PAULINE ALBERS-MITCHELL, is a native of Ireland who has worked in the language and communication training field since 1985. She was the first English language trainer at Boehringer Mannheim in Penzberg.

Pauline spent six years living in West Africa, the Ivory Coast and Nigeria. In Kaduna,
Nigeria, she worked for the British High Commission where she was responsible for the Nigerian staff members. This provided a great window into their lives and culture. In Lagos, Pauline developed English courses for expatriates.

Before moving to Germany, Pauline worked for the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin where she assisted the professor leading a study on pharmaceutical services in Ireland. Pauline spent one year at the University of Glasgow working for the departments of Political Economy and Mythology and four years at University College Dublin where she worked for the Head of the Chemistry Department.

Pauline specializes in custom-made language and communication courses/seminars, where cultural awareness is always an integral part. Pauline has a BA degree in the Humanities and a Diploma in Advanced English Studies. She also trained in Conflict Management and Mediation Skills with Geoffrey Corry ,Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, Ireland. Pauline has completed her training in Focusing and Client-centered Therapy (IGF) and works as a coach in the area of personal development .

Pauline has her own company, English Language Services. Some of her clients include Siemens Bildungszentrum, Munich, Bearing Point GmbH, Financial Leasing Services, Grünwald, and International Business English Ltd.(IBE), in the pharmaceutical/diagnostic industry.

 

SHEILA SCOTT first taught English as Language Assistant in two colleges for girls in Güssing Austria. Having acquired a taste for the profession, she decided, on completion of her studies of German and Russian philology in 1983, to go to Finland to take up a position as resident teacher for a hydro electric power company and then for the University of Oulu’s Language Centre. During this time she also taught Cambridge Certificate courses and summer courses for other educational institutions in Oulu.

In 1986 Sheila came to Munich where she spent the first years translating for the WHO Centre in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Ludwig Maximillian University. In 1989 she became a freelance trainer for Business and Technical English. Sheila then completed her TEFL diploma by distance learning. Since then she has taught Business, Commercial and Technical English at a large number of companies and organisations in and around Munich, including working for the Munich Business School. Sheila speaks Russian, Finnish, French, German and English, fluently. Sheila has been working for the pharmaceutical/diagnostic industry for the past eleven years. In recent years she has done training in NLP and Kinesiology.

 

MONIKA L. STRUCKEN is a qualified and experienced Management Trainer, teaching English as a foreign language. After obtaining a university degree in English and French, literature and linguistics, and working in Great Britain for some years, Monika did her teacher training and taught English and French in secondary schools for almost ten years. There, as Head of the English Department she was also responsible for a school exchange programme with France.At the same time, Monika started running courses for adults, from beginners to certificate level. For some years she was responsible for several “Train the Trainer” seminars.

When Monika moved to Munich in 1990, she started working freelance, founded her own company, ETC English Training and Consulting, and concentrated on teaching business English. Since then, she has worked for several companies, e.g. Siemens, Xantos and for IBE, teaching intensive, one-to-one and residential courses, at all levels.
Monika’s main focus is on tailor-made courses in business English and intercultural communication, where she develops her own material to help her course participants prepare for international presentations and meetings, improve their language skills in writing, telephoning and conversing, manage work-specific situations better, and thus,
become effective in the real world of business.

 

PATRICIA ZIEGLER has an honours degree in German and French from London University. Three semesters were spent at Munich University (LMU), during which time she gained her first teaching experience at the Cambridge Institute and Messerschmidt-Bölkow.

After graduating Pat worked for a large construction company in Munich, translated material for language laboratories and then moved on to the export department of Rohde & Schwarz. When Pat moved from Munich to Oberfranken, she worked for over ten years in industry as a translator and foreign languages PA with an engineering company specializing in machinery for the ceramics industry. Here she gained extensive experience in translating technical instructions (troubleshooting), operating manuals, specifications, liaising with customers and serving as an interpreter during negotiations.

Since moving back to Upper Bavaria Pat has taught intensive courses at Deutsche Bundespost (Raisting) and for the IHK. Since 1991 she has been a member of the examination board of the Industrie- und Handlelskammer für München and Oberbayern for the qualifications Fremdsprachensekretärin and Wirtschaftsfremdsprache. This involves setting and marking examination papers and participating in oral examinations. Pat has recently taught specialized intensive Business English courses at Geigertechnik (automotive industry) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which included courses for Key Account and Quality Assurance Managers as well as the Shipping and Purchasing Departments.

Pat has been teaching in the pharmaceutical/diagnostic industries since 1992 and has been with IBE since its inception, training and developing material for many very different groups.
