Courses
IBE offers you a wide choice of courses. At present IBE is running around seventy (70) group courses and around thirty-five (35) one-to-one courses. If you check out the course titles below, you will see what we cover. In all courses you are encouraged to bring along any material you have to work with. Your course is based on a hands-on approach, with role-plays and simulations to help you do your job better in English! Your trainer will also deal with the cultural aspect of doing business with your international colleagues and partners. All courses cover a certain amount of Business English, as this is a part of your daily life, whether you are in a lab, office or a production facility. Please contact us if you would like to discuss your needs and what would be appropriate for you. You will always be able to have a trial lesson, before you decide on taking a course.
Here is a list of the courses IBE offers you:
ENGLISH FOR ENGINEERS & TECHNICIANS
There are a number of courses now running that cover the technical work that you do in various engineering fields e.g. energy, waste disposal, facility management, etc. on site. The courses also cover communication skills and business English. Levels range from beginners to advanced. Participants are asked to bring along the material they work with in their jobs. ENGLISH FOR THE LAB
There are many and varied courses at all levels from false beginners to
advanced, for anyone who is working in a lab. If you need English to help
you with your protocols, reading scientific literature, telephoning, answering
e-mails, making presentations, attending meetings, writing reports and
SOPs. Business English is also a part of every course. Any material you
bring along will be worked on in the group. Your trainer will also help
you with short translations. ENGLISH FOR CUSTOMER CARE
These courses are for people who have to deal with customers on a daily
basis. We cover complaint handling, problem solving, managing conflicts,
conducting and participating in meetings, making presentations, handling
the question & answer sessions. In some of the courses we coach the
participants who are responsible for training customers, and we deal with
their specific challenges as well. You are encouraged to bring along your
own material and this will be dealt with in the class. BUSINESS ENGLISH
Here we cover all levels except real beginners. These courses are more
general in character, but again you are asked to bring along the material
you deal with in your job. The emphasis may be on marketing, meetings,
negotiations or presentations, for example, it depends on the group. ENGLISH FOR WORKING WITH INTERNATIONAL
PARTNERS
This course is for the globe trotters and those dealing with international
partners on a daily basis. The course covers communication for the global
environment, e.g. presentations, negotiations and meetings, developments
in the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries and legal issues. Intercultural
competence is an integral part of this course, too. ENGLISH FOR SECRETARIES
There are a number of secretarial courses running at different levels.
We cover all the areas that you work in, in detail. All aspects of telephoning
and writing correspondence that your boss expects you to be able to do,
as well as handling visitors, are covered. You are asked to bring along
your own e-mails and examples of telephone calls, so they can be dealt
with in class. ENGLISH FOR RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT
& PRODUCTION
There are many courses from intermediate to advanced levels, dealing with
systems and processes, research & development, different types of
production and procedures, small and large scale production, etc. You
are asked to bring along material concerning the project you are working
on. Presentations and general business English are an important part of
these courses too. ENGLISH FOR THE IT WORLD
There are quite a few IT courses at different levels, running at present.
These deal with the specific requirements of each group. Some topics you
will cover will be managing conflicts, handling customer complaints, teleconferencing,
meetings and presentations. As in all our courses, we ask you to bring
along examples of your work. ENGLISH FOR HUMAN RESOURCES
We run Intermediate to Advanced courses for the Human Resources department
to cover your specific issues. Workshops instead of weekly lessons have
been considered for those of you whose busy schedule does not allow regular
meetings. A 3- 4hr. workshop, once a month, would deal with HR issues
as decided on by your group. ENGLISH FOR QUALITY CONTROL &
REG AFFAIRS
There are a number of courses handling quality control and regulatory
affairs issues. Here your trainer will work with you on your specific
issues concerning quality management, FDA audits, teleconferencing, negotiations
and all issues you have to deal with in your work. ONE-TO-ONE TUITION
If your needs are very specific, you need to be very flexible with time, or you need intensive training, then one-to-one consulting/coaching is for you. At present IBE has approximately 35 individual consulting/coaching clients. Topics cover anything from media production to IT research services. It is a very effective use of time and resources. You are able to make quick progress and also deal with the burning issues that you have. Your trainer will take time to prepare specific material just for you. These sessions are not necessarily every week, but we do recommend a 90-minute session, as a minimum. GERMAN
Learning German for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. We teach
all levels and tailor-make the courses to be flexible time-wise and to
accommodate the wishes of each participant. One-to-one courses are very
effective for those who have to learn the language in a short period of
time. |
